BC Wildfires Response

August 10, 2017

Multiple large and quickly-growing wildfires have been burning in BC’s interior and forced thousands from their homes in recent days. Other areas, including the entire city of Williams Lake, have been affected by evacuations and people are having to leave their homes at a moment’s notice. With continuing hot, dry, and windy conditions expected in the region, there is concern that the wildfires may continue to grow and threaten more homes and lives.

How to Respond

Please pray for:

  • rain, the wind to die down, and for better weather conditions overall
  • those who have lost their homes and belongings
  • those in the evacuation areas as they deal with the stress of being displaced or on notice to leave at a moment’s notice
  • those fighting the fire

The CPD uses the BC Emergency Fund to assist churches and individuals who are impacted by natural disasters. If you would like to donate to this fund, please give to your local Alliance church in offering envelopes or with cheques marked for the ‘BC Emergency Fund‘. Please note that excess funds that are not used or needed for the wildfires will be left in the BC Emergency Fund for future use.

The Christian & Missionary Alliance in Canada is also accepting donations through the Global Emergency Response Fund and you can donate here.
