Faith Rangers NEVER give up!!
If I heard that once, I heard that a million times when our kids were growing up with their cousins in Alberta. What does that actually mean? People of faith never give up on God’s calling for them and follow Him with courage and boldness in all aspects of life…just ask Joshua in the book of Judges.
Two of our adult kids and spouses are now involved in the Chilliwack House Church Network and together they are reaching their friends and neighbours for Christ.
Let me share one amazing story…
Derek and Mandy lived across the street from our son Nick and Courtney and over time they established a friendship through normal neighbourhood connections. Derek and Mandy would often go home after their time with Nick and Courtney and comment how real and how nice these people were…almost too real and nice. They would watch them closely and wondered what made them tick.
One day during a front yard conversation, Nick asked Derek if he and Mandy and their kids would like to attend a new house church gathering at their house on Sunday, and Derek said that they would. To this point, Derek and Mandy never really attended church and so it was going to be a real stretch, but they truly wanted to see more.
Over the past 1 ½ years, Derek and Mandy and their kids have attended house church regularly and have begun to walk an amazing journey of learning and discerning of what a relationship with Christ is all about. They have connected with our daughter and her husband, with other house church attenders and also with Helen and I.
At a recent family gathering, our kids informed us that Mandy was going to be baptized in her mom and stepdad’s pool on Saturday July 18th… we immediately invited ourselves to the “pool party” and could hardly wait for the afternoon event.
Mandy shared her journey to Jesus via a written testimony which was read by her husband Derek. We were so blessed and encouraged by her life story and how following Jesus is now the biggest part of her life going forward. As she climbed into the pool and Nick baptized her, there were cheers and tears from everyone.
Faith Rangers never give up… many Christians today struggle with sharing their faith, and the reality is that sharing our faith should simply be a part of our daily life and routine. Living for Jesus is what we are called to do as Christ followers and when we take that command to heart and mix it with real life, we see God work in powerful ways. Take a look around you and see if God wishes to send you a “Derek and Mandy” and when He does… be bold and courageous and never give up Faith Ranger!!
