Child marriage is an issue on the Arabian Peninsula, where young girls are forced to marry when they are still children. Alliance International Workers in the Arabian Peninsula are encouraging churches to learn more about this issue and pray for the girls who are affected.
I am Nojoom, Age 10 and Divorced, depicts the true story of a Yemeni girl’s bid to legally extricate herself from an abusive, arranged marriage to a much older man. This case made headlines in 2009 and has now been adapted into a film being shown at the Vancouver International Film Festival. Our International Workers have met the director of the film, who has risked much to produce it.
Please note that this film depicts topics that are not suitable for young children and discretion is advised.
