“It is tied to the birthing process.” That was the strong sense that we had a few months ago in our weekly intercessors’ prayer time for the Sun Region. We have been praying for breakthrough, particularly for Mexico City, for so many years. On this one morning we had also been praying for two of our International Worker families in Mexico City, who would really like to have children but have not been able to. That is when we had this “word” and a strong sense that somehow the breakthrough in Mexico City was tied to the birthing process for these families.
Our online prayer time ended at 10:00am and when I got off the call I opened our email to find a confidential letter that had just come in, from one of the families we had been praying for. She was writing to let us know that they had just found out she was finally pregnant! They were expecting a baby! My eyes brimmed with tears as I rejoiced with them in this great news and answer to prayer, and also stood in awe of how God speaks and weaves stories together. My faith was bolstered to believe God for this “birthing process” timing, for the breakthroughs we have been praying for in Mexico City for so long!
Fast forward to a few weeks ago. I was in Mexico City with an Alliance Pray team who had come to intercede for the city and to pray with and for our International Workers. They were from a few different churches and had only gotten to know each other during their days there. It was beautiful to watch the “body” functioning well as different gifts were being honed and expressed. In one of the prayer times there was a strong word and sense, again, about breakthrough being tied to the birthing process.
While I was there that week, I got to meet the new adopted son of the other family we had been praying for months earlier. What a treasure! What a gift! What an answer to prayer! He had just arrived to their home a week earlier. I also got to see Heather, with a beautiful growing tummy. Her baby is due in May.
While the team was there, they were able to participate in one of our newest church plants, C3, in the park. It was only a couple months old at the time.
This fall we are “birthing” an International School that we have been working towards for about 7 years. There has been constant opposition (as it is with most things in Mexico City), but we know God has put this on our hearts to do, so we keep moving forward in faith.
We have also dreamed of starting an International Church in Mexico City for years. We have a couple working through the last stages of process and we hope they will be on the ground in Mexico City this August to work with an English bible study and see it become a missional church.
Breakthrough is tied to the birthing process. We continue to trust God and believe that we are beginning to see that prophetic word become a reality.
