Sevenoaks Alliance Church – Pastor to Seniors

Sevenoaks Alliance Church is seeking a compassionate, relational, and Christ centred Pastor to Seniors to serve and shepherd our thriving community of older adults. This role offers flexibility in weekly hours (20 or 30) depending on the candidate’s availability and desired workload.
We are looking for someone with a pastor’s heart who is gifted in caring for seniors, supporting families, and creating spaces where people feel known, valued, and spiritually nurtured

Primary Responsibilities

1. Pastoral Care & Visitation
• Provide ongoing pastoral care to seniors through hospital visits, home visits, and spiritual support.
• Build meaningful relationships that offer encouragement, prayer, and companionship.
• Support shut ins and those facing physical, emotional, or spiritual challenges.

2. Funerals & Family Support
• Conduct funerals and memorial services with compassion, clarity, and professionalism.
• Walk alongside grieving families, offering pastoral guidance and emotional support.
• Coordinate follow up care for those in seasons of loss.

3. Senior Events
• Develop, plan, and lead occasional gatherings for seniors (e.g., luncheons, social events, outreach opportunities).
• Recruit and equip volunteers to assist with program execution.
• Foster a welcoming, vibrant environment that strengthens community and faith.

Qualifications

• A committed follower of Jesus Christ with a vibrant spiritual life.
• Demonstrated experience in pastoral care, ministry to seniors, chaplaincy, or related fields.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to provide spiritual leadership during sensitive life moments.
• Organizational skills for planning and running events.

• Licensing or ordination with Christian & Missionary Alliance in Canada (or willingness to pursue ministry credentials).
• 20–30 hours per week, depending on the candidate’s availability and preference.
• Compensation range $24-$29 per hour commensurate with experience.

David Paradiso

David and Rhoda have been attending Victoria Alliance since they moved from Ottawa in 2014. They have been married for almost 32 years and have four adult daughters.

 

David was born in Toronto to an Italian immigrant family, the only one of five siblings who was born in Canada. Independently, both David and Rhoda were raised in Pentecostal churches and together have attended Christian and Missionary Alliance and Associated Gospel churches since they were married.

 

He has a law degree from Western University in London, Ontario and is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada. David’s career has been in the oversight and investigation of public sector agencies, including the Ontario Ombudsman, the Ombudsman for Canada Post, the RCMP Public Complaint Commission, the Correctional Investigator of Canada, and the RCMP External Review Committee. David works as Deputy BC Ombudsperson.

 

They have enjoyed travelling as a family and now spend their time trying to visit together as much as possible. Food is always involved! David and Rhoda cling to Proverbs 3:5-6.

Nathan Sun

Youth Ministry Pastor

Pastor Nathan was born and raised in Edmonton, AB. His love for music transformed into a passion for leading musical worship during his teenage years. Eventually, this passion brought Nathan to discover God’s calling on him to full-time ministry. Attending Ambrose University in Calgary, he graduated with a Bachelor of Theology in Church Ministries.

 

Since 2014, Nathan has been a pastor in Vancouver – currently at Fraser Lands Church. He is passionate about seeing people take steps in obedience to Jesus, especially those of the next generation.

 

Nathan enjoys spending time with his wife, Christy, and their bunnies, Napa & Truffles. He also loves hotpot, bubble tea, and the Edmonton Oilers. On his off days, Nathan’s hobbies include playing guitar and soccer.

Danielle Johnson

Senior Associate Pastor of Spiritual Formation at Kamloops Alliance Church

I’m Danielle Johnson. I live in the beautiful city of Kamloops, BC, with my husband, Ben, and our two children, Eloise and Oliver. Our family loves spending time outdoors hiking and biking, and we’re always looking for any excuse to visit a good café.

 

My life stands as a witness to the incredible and ongoing transformative work of Jesus, and I am driven by a deep desire to see others grow in rich relationship with Him. This passion has shaped and defined my pursuits over the last 15+ years, including my decision to minister in Cairo, Egypt, church plant in Coquitlam, BC, and enter full-time pastoral ministry.

 

In 2018, our family left the Lower Mainland and returned home to Kamloops where I now serve as the Senior Associate Pastor of Spiritual Formation at Kamloops Alliance Church. It’s a privilege to be part of our Senior Management Team, developing strategy, shaping culture, and furthering our mission to know Jesus and make Him known. I hold a Business degree (Honours) from Simon Fraser University, which has equipped me with valuable skills in organizational leadership and management, which I combine with a deep love of theology and spiritual formation.

 

As a C&MA girl through and through, I am proud to be a part of Alliance churches across the world, which exist to be increasingly Christ-centred, Spirit-empowered, and mission-focused – multiplying disciples everywhere!

Carmen Kinniburgh

District Children’s Ministry Partner

Children’s ministry involves developing leaders, discipling children and families, exercising creativity, with an emphasis on fun and building relationships that help others to experience God’s love as they are loved by people who know God’s love. Carmen has served in children’s ministries as a volunteer, coordinator, curriculum writer, camp speaker, and pastor. Her desire in ministry and life is to help others (whether they be children, youth, or adults) to hear God’s voice and to experience the freedom and fullness of love found in knowing Jesus and living kingdom lives. Whether your children’s ministry is led by volunteers or a pastoral leader, Carmen would love to connect, build networks, support, resource, pray with, and provide care in whatever areas are needed.

Carmen lives in Vernon with her husband, Jeremy, and their two teenage kids. She loves playing soccer, hiking, camping, and theatre. She and Jeremy have founded two new ministries called Threshold Initiatives and Contributing Pastor.

Terry Ann Opperman

Official Worker

Terry Opperman is a licensed worker with the C&MA and currently serving with her husband Bob at Westshore Alliance Church in Langford, BC. She also serves as a chaplain working in the areas of addictions and recovery, with the Alliance Association of Chaplains (AAC) since January of 2016 and came on the AAC Canadian Pacific District Leadership Committee in February of 2019.

She has served in a wide variety of very large, medium, and smaller churches. She has been on faculty at CBC as well as Taylor University College, where she also served as Director of Student Development, as well as on the President’s Advisory Counsel. Some highlights of ministry have been speaking Internationally in Germany, Thailand and India.

Steve Schneider

Executive Pastor at Maple Ridge Alliance Church

Steve is a recently licensed Official Worker in the district and the Executive Pastor at Maple Ridge Alliance Church. He has been married to Brenda since 1984 and has two adult daughters. Steve is an engineer by background and holds an MBA from Heriot-Watt University. He worked in BC’s pulp and paper industry for 36 years before becoming an Official Worker.

Steve has served in various ways over the years but has focused more recently on church board work. He served on his first church board 38 years ago. Since then, he has served on four church boards and the District Executive Committee of the CPD. Over the last 14 years, Steve has actively been teaching and consulting with church and not-for-profit boards within and outside of The Alliance Canada to help them develop healthy governance practices.

Keith Cheung

English Lead Pastor at Burnaby Alliance Church

Keith was also an active member at Westside Calgary Chinese Alliance Church before moving to Vancouver to begin full-time pastoral ministry. After a brief stint pastoring in a church from another denomination, Keith began serving as the English Lead Pastor at Burnaby Alliance Church in 2017 where he continues to serve today.

Keith is married to Cecelia (20 years this year!) and they are raising 2 beautiful daughters (11 and 6) who they adopted from Taiwan and Korea respectively. He loves, in no particular order, cooking and eating and conversations, the Saskatchewan Roughriders, road cycling, family reunions, and good movies and music.

Carol Goh

District Chaplains Committee Chair

Carol Goh has chaired the District Chaplains Committee and served on the Association for Alliance Chaplains (AAC) National Committee since 2018. She completed her Masters degree in Chaplaincy in Spiritual Care from Trinity Western Seminary and is the Neighborhood Chaplain and Pastor for Seniors at Chilliwack Alliance. As a chaplain, Carol invests in the neighborhood (parish) around the church through connecting with those who live, work, and go to school there. She intentionally supports the local public elementary school and other local organizations so that together they can weave together the fabric of care for the inhabitants. The Goh household includes her husband Andrew, their three teenage sons, Andrew’s mother, and their golden doodle.

David Driedger

David has served at Lakewood Alliance Church since the fall of 2002, first as an associate, then as Lead Pastor starting in November 2005. David has been on various committees including DEXCOM, District Nominating Committee, a few General Assembly Committees, and the Rules Committee for District Conference. David has an interest in church governance and seeing healthy leaders serving on healthy boards in order to better equip and serve the church.

David and Tara are in the process of launching their three young adult sons and enjoy seeing the trajectories their lives are taking. David enjoys woodwork and getting out cross-country skiing in the winter.

Daren Wride

Transitional Pastors Network Coordinator

Daren Wride has been serving in transitional roles since 2011. He has been on the ground as Transitional Pastor in multiple churches around the province and has engaged as a Transitional Coach with several other churches. Prior to his transitional work, Daren pastored three churches in Alberta and BC for a total of nearly 20 years. Daren has also spent time in the professional speaking and internet marketing worlds and usually has a related project on the go.

Geoff Stewart

District Youth Ministry Partner

Youth ministry is among the most demanding ministries in the church from a relational standpoint, serving young people who are defining the ever changing culture we live in. Leading in youth ministry is best not done alone, and Geoff desires to help our youth pastors serve and encourage one another through the sharing of resources, wisdom, experience, and perspective. In the ever-changing world of today’s high school student, it is vital for us as youth pastors to be changing with them to understand the world they are navigating and share with them the life changing truth of the Gospel.

Geoff has been a youth pastor for 6 years at Peace Portal Alliance Church and volunteered for 10 years before that in the same church. He is passionate about seeing young people transformed by Jesus and becoming leaders in their school and community. He and his wife Lavonne live in South Surrey with their cats Norman and Puff Daddy.

Andy Lambkin

Andy wears two hats in the Canadian Pacific District. He serves as our New Venture implementer, helping new communities of faith emerge across our province, and he also leads the Nest housing Society, a non-profit affordable housing society working with local churches to utilize their land for social good while fulfilling critical ministry priorities. Personally, Andy is married to Jolie and they have four kids. Residing in North Vancouver, they call simplechurches, a network of house churches, their church home.
