Dan Goldsmith, a retired Alliance pastor living in Abbotsford, BC, recently released his second book written in his retirement. In his 80th year he published “Jokes, Quotes & Anecdotes – Made Especially For Citizens With Seniority.” This book, which has sold close to 2,000 copies to date, consists of humorous one-liners, jokes, senior trivia, and poems. Phil Callaway said of this book: “Dan Goldsmith has compiled a volume of pure joy… Keep it close when your long hair has given way to a longing for hair… I’d take this book over Prozac any day.”
After Xulon Press published that book, Dan began to receive several humorous bits and pieces all with the same message, “This is for your next book.” Dan says he never entertained the idea of a first book let alone a second. However, after considerable thought, he decided to publish a second book, “Jump Start Your Day.”
This latest book consists of 500 pages of daily readings for 366 days. It begins each day with a slice of humor followed by a devotional thought, Bible verse, and one-liner. Norm Morrison, a pastor in the CPD, says of this book: “Some speakers are blessed with a rich sense of humor. The rest of us rely on Dan’s delightfully rich treasure troves of humor and stories for any occasion. And if you see yourself as more of a reader than a speaker, Dan’s latest collection of anecdotes and quotes will brighten and bless the darkest of days with its daily dose of lively humor, keen insights, and inspiring truths.”
