MAPLE RIDGE, BC | This week, we’re celebrating the launch of a New Venture committed to welcoming and serving newcomers to Canada!
While Vancouver is BC’s gateway to immigration, the cost of housing in the city proves to be a challenge for newcomers. As the cost of housing in BC continues to rise, many new immigrants from Hong Kong as well as Cantonese speakers are moving to and settling in the greater areas of Vancouver like Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, Chilliwack and northern Langley. Yet there is not even one active congregation in these specific areas for Cantonese speakers.
Recognizing this need, leaders at Maple Ridge Alliance and Westwood Alliance are prayerfully launching this New Venture with the hope of helping Cantonese speakers and new immigrants encounter Jesus. Their hope is to create a new paradigm of Chinese ministry, moving from an ethnocentric model toward an intercultural model of church.
This New Venture represents a partnership between the Canadian Pacific District (@cpdoffice), the Canadian Chinese Alliance Church Association (@ccaca_canada), Westwood Alliance Church (@westwood.alliance.church), and Maple Ridge Alliance (@mrachurch).
