Ambrose University – Assistant/ Associate Professor in Music
Ambrose University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position in Music, starting August 2025. Reporting to the Dean of Arts and Science and working collaboratively with the Chair of Ambrose Arts and other Arts faculty, the individual has shared responsibilities for developing and executing a robust Music program vision while successfully maintaining individual teaching, committee, and research loads.
The primary area of responsibility will be in Music Theory. The Music program offers a 4-year Bachelor of Music and 3- and 4-year Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Music with a tradition in choral, vocal, piano, and jazz music. The successful applicant will complement our current expertise in Choral Music and Musicology by teaching elective courses in a secondary music area such as Applied Music (Instrument), Composition, Jazz Studies, Technology/Production, and/or Worship Arts.
Duties include:
• Preparing and teaching Music courses primarily in Music Theory sequence and Aural Skills.
• Ongoing research, publication, and/or professional practice.
• Regular committee work at departmental and university levels.
• Academic advising and support for students involved in Ambrose productions and work-integrated learning opportunities.
• Periodic involvement in student recruitment, curriculum development, and other department initiatives.
Depending on experience and skill set, the potential exists for an administrative/leadership role in the Ambrose Arts department
Salary range is $62,000 to $67,000 per year.
