Glendyne Gerrard
Glendyne Gerrard founded and directed Defend Dignity, a ministry of The C&MA, until she retired in 2023. Defend Dignity moved to become an independent charity in 2024 and Glendyne returned as their Fund Developer. She lives with her husband Doug in Oakville, ON. Doug and Glendyne continue to serve The C&MA as Doug is now transitional pastor at Tillsonburg, Ontario having retired as Executive Vice President of The C&MA in 2023. Glendyne maintains her credentials with The C&MA speaking in churches and volunteering at her local church. They have 3 married children and 8 grandchildren that bring much joy.
Defend Dignity, a former ministry department of The C&MA in Canada and now an independent charity, exists to end all forms of sexual exploitation in Canada. Come and learn from Defend Dignity’s founder, former Executive Director and current Fund Developer, Glendyne Gerrard and Vancouver survivor, Trisha Baptie. They will be talking about today’s realities of sexual exploitation, including online harms and how you can make a difference.

Defend Dignity is a national organization that works to end all forms of sexual exploitation in Canada. They have been recognized by Members of Parliament and Senators as a significant contributor in the fight against sex trafficking and online harms in Canada. Defend Dignity has assisted over 350 survivors with almost $400,000 in the last 9 years. Defend Dignity has hosted 2 virtual international Summits with over 2,000 people in attendance from around the world. They have developed resources for churches to use with their youth and adults related to the crisis of sexual exploitation as well as the crisis of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls. Defend Dignity is eager to work with churches and individuals to address this crisis in Canada
Trisha Baptie
After 15 years of prostitution that started when she was 13 years of age she was able to exit at age 28. She is a respected and sought after educator, presenter, writer and organizer known on local, national and international levels. She is an inaugural member of the International Survivors of Trafficking Advisory Council (ISTAC) Trisha is well versed in the system of prostitution and all the systemic and intersecting issues affiliated with the sex trade.
